PROBUS CLUB OF LAUNCESTON

What a wonderfully organised Christmas lunch was had by the members at the Launceston Club on Tuesday  2 December. It was such a pleasure to have silver service and be waited on by the stewards. Also to have our pre-luncheon drinks separate to the dining room was very civilised and most pleasant. Congratulations to Leigh Jones for his foresight....and lets do this again in 2015.

Incoming President Ivan James our MC for the day did a splendid job and Dr John Morris delivered the Christmas Message.

This, I believe was the most successful and pleasant luncheons we have all experienced with good food, wine and extremely good company.

An excellent turnout of members today who visited Chalmers Church. Brian Lister sent this photograph in as a record of the visit.

Walkers Designs have been bust transforming the interior of the church which is one of the oldest in Australia for the past 18 months.

A great day at Huntsman's Lake organised by Chris Cohen. Seven probus members enjoyed the art of fly fishing and a superb BBQ lunch at the lake side picnic area.

Looks as if the wine was flowing.....Oh no!!! no fish?? I think all agreed that it was a superb setting for good food, wine, conversation and a little fishing.

Seven members dined at Chromy's Restuarant and enjoyed good food, wine and conversation on Wed 28 October. It is hoped that the next fine dining experience will be held in March/April in 2015. Venues being discussed include the Red Feather Inn at Hadspen, Elia in Charles Street and Velo Wines restuarant in Legana.

 We are all looking forward to the next experience......why not join us....its a relaxing afternoon.

CONGRATULATIONS Charles on your 91st birthday from all  present & past members of Launceston Probus

In September the members visited Waterpoint in Park Street as part of the regular History Group outings organised by Jim Anderson.

President elect Ivan James and John Bye on the 23rd August presented a 20 year certificate to the family of the late Past President John Walker.
