PROBUS CLUB OF LAUNCESTON

  I was born in Wynyard in 1931. Became a teacher after training at the University of Tasmania. Taught at Devonport Primary, Penguin,Queenstown, Mathinna, Devonport Secondary and Wesley Vale Area. Became a lecturer in the Hobart Teachers' College, (1963) and then the Launceston  Teachers' College (1964 onwards) which became the TCAE and later the TSIT. Studied at London University, (1965-66) Macquarie University (1972) University of British Columbia (1984) Married Mary Matthews (1956) Three children, Robin Sullivan- now a teacher ; Tony - now a researcher at Tasmanian Alkaloids; Neville -who  became a veterinary surgeon in Victoria, died 2003. Ten grandchildren. Mary died 1996..  Remarried Gay Ross 2005. Sports: Hockey; sailing. Interests: Christian faith; history;Royal Society;World Education Fellowship Tasmania,Launceston Probus.
